Radcliffe Olympic III,  1  Ruddington Colts,  0

Cahoon

A sweltering day down at Wharf Lane, last game of the very long season and all to play for, whoever won would finish runners up. The blues really wanted this and you could tell, within the first few minuets Radcliffe were on their toes and looking sharp. But the weather took it's toll early as Lexi who was ill only lasted 5 minutes. So with no recognized strikers on the pitch where were the goals coming from? Lou and Ella were drafted in up front, and it wasn't long before they made it count, Winning the ball inside Saf passed out to Demi who released Ella on what is becoming a trade mark run. Off she went steaming down the right flank, beating one ,two, she reached the by line and turned left then headed for goal, with another to beat she decided to cross hard and low toward goal, with Lou and Georgie striding to meet the ball that never came. Unfortunately a Colts leg got there first and in it went. The Cahoon is claiming it though! And why not.

Radcliffe were attacking down both wings and were causing problems getting in behind the Ruddington defence. Two well struck shots were well saved at the second attempt by the Colts keeper, and a free kick was just inches wide. Then on the half hour mark Georgie attacking in the box got a clearance at point blank straight in the face.. In a lot of pain and bleeding from her eye she was taken off, and an ambulance was called. Not moments later Risa fell awkwardly, snap, and screamed in pain. Cue ambulance number 2.

80 degrees 3 ambulances 5 paramedics 2 nurses 1 doctor 22 very weary footballers.

I'm not sure how long it took before we got going again, but the last quarter hour was seen out without further incident.

Second half was pretty much end to end chances, both teams coming close. Lou scraped the paint work with a first time effort. Ruddington with one of those on the line hit post off the line jobs. Then Radcliffe with 3 clear headers from corners, all 3 only a foot wide. Then Rudd with a free kick that just missed. Then Radcliffe with a free kick that hit the upright and bar came out and was cleared off the line. Then Rudd again across the goal. Then Lou with just the goalie to beat, but neither Lou nor the goalie knew where the ball was. Then the final whistle .Quite frankly i don't know how the players, and i mean all the players, did that, in that heat. Well done to every one of you.

POM. April, rock solid reading the game .

Laura stands watching the carnage on crutches. Gemma was in the stand on crutches. And now Risa and Georgie join the list.
